Halloween Candy Pie

Here’s another idea for using up that leftover Halloween candy.  I have NOT personally tried this recipe because it looks just way too sweet and rich to me, but I know a few people with HUGE sweet tooths who would love this!

Basically you take a prepared pie crust – use your own recipe or buy a premade one – and fill it up with your leftover Halloween candies.  Bake the crust for about 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees F.  You need to then fill the crust to the top as the candy melts down in the oven as it heats up and it was suggested that you go with mostly chocolate candies for the best taste.  Of course throwing in some candy corn is also a nice touch (the fondant mixing with the chocolate…yum!).   Put back into the 350 degree F oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, until the candy is melted and the crust is a beautiful golden colour.  Remove from oven and let pie rest for about an hour before serving (any sooner than that and it will be too melted and messy to cut!).

Here’s another idea someone suggested on Twitter:  If you have a lot of leftover candy, consider sending some in a care package to the troops.  This link is for US troops but am sure there are ones for other countries as well.  If anyone knows of those links, feel free to share those in the comments!   http://www.supportourtroops.org/
